- On Windows 10 x64 with SourceTree v2.1.11.0 I the app was slow for me too. Would take 3-5 seconds or more for SourceTree to scan and detect file changes even in small repos with only a hundred text files of 300 lines or less each.
- Here are some of the actions that are very slow: opening sourcetree - it takes around 2 minutes changing to another repo tab changing to another repo tab and switching back to the first one.
- Once installed, SourceTree will automatically try to look for and set up repos that are worked on. SourceTree will also detect if git-flow is used and what is the current development state as long as default git-flow branch names are used. The software tracks all relevant repositories in the bookmark's window.
On Windows using Sourcetree. Double click the Pageant icon in your system tray to open the Pagent Key List dialog. If you don't see your SSH key, click Add Key to add it. To check that the ssh-agent is running. Enter ps -e grep ssh-agent to check whether it's running. Very slow SourceTree process sample. Not a member of Pastebin yet? Sign Up, it unlocks many cool features! Raw download clone embed print report. Sampling process 52421 for 1 seconds with 1 millisecond of run time between samples.
I've been using SourceTree for a while and never had this problem, but the past 2 days (when I updated the software from `1.9.x` to `1.10.23.1`) I couldn't use it because it was very slowly! Each click action took me 10s+ to process. After 2 days trying different solutions, for example:
- Tried this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28105472/sourcetree-very-slow-with-many-repositories;
- Tried to change to beta version: Beta `2.0.12-beta-001`;
- Reinstalled Sourcetree (both 1.10 and Beta);
- Reinstalled Git (to the lastest version);
Sourcetree Very Slow Flow
But what really solved my problem was disabling the Antivirus (mine is avast). Before 1.10 I used to use SourceTree with antivirus on everything worked fine. But since I updated, it's way too slow.
Don't know if this is actually the problem, but since I disabled it, I had no more problems. Have been using it the whole day and it's normal.
By the way, since the start of the problem, even with just 1 and a new repository just for test, it was slow. So it had nothing to do with huge files, etc...

Why Is Sourcetree So Slow
Note: Even when I tried to specify the path to my files to exclude from the antivirus, it had no effect, it was too slow. Only completely disabling the antivirus solve the problem.
